Music and dancing spilled out over the apron alongside the Learjet 45 as Bombardier handed over the all-new business jet to South African customer Aaron Searll, chairman of Seardel Investment, part of the Execujet programme.

The local dancing, tea, fresh dates and Arabic music were there to celebrate the first-ever appearance of the 45 in the Middle East.

"No other business jet can fly higher, faster, or farther for a lower cost than the Learjet 45," says John Lawson, Bombardier Business Aircraft's president, sales.

"The aircraft has clocked up nine speed records since its introduction into service last year and the fleet has in excess of 8,000h with dispatch reliability of more than 99%," Lawson said. Bombardier will have delivered 50 Learjet 45s by the year. The aircraft can fly from Dubai to Nairobi, Delhi or Athens with its range of 2,120nm.
