The US Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) has joined the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association in calling for a simplified medical certificate for recreational pilots. The trade bodies have separately petitioned the FAA to allow holders of a recreational pilot licence to fly using a state driving licence as a medical approval, rather than an FAA medical certificate. EAA says: "The issue addresses the reality that medical incapacitation is the cause of less than half of one percent of all aviation accidents".
