FAL Aviation UK - the fixed-base operation (FBO) at London Ashford airport (Lydd) - is launching a website aimed at bringing real benefits to corporate brokers and charters here at the show.
"We want to use the website to help the brokers save time and effort when they are planning to visit Lydd," says FAL's Melanie Blackman.
The website uses database-driven technology incorporating the fixed-menu pricing options. "This means clients will be able to receive quotes out of our normal operational hours - a great advantage if they are on different time zones - they can self-quote and either submit the quote as a handling request or save the quote and come back to us at a later date," says Blackman
The team at FAL has been aggressively marketing the new FBO and during are offering free landings for business aircraft to enable charterers and brokers to understand what is on offer at the Kent airport, an hour from central London.
"Our new ILS [instrument landing system] makes a huge difference," Blackman says, "and we are talking to business jet operators about training."
Lydd offers a newly resurfaced 1,500m (4,900ft) runway, unrestricted airspace, no runway slot restrictions, an airport outside the London terminal manoeuvring area, no weekend restrictions, minimal noise restrictions and an excellent weather record.
FAL has a new FBO and provides full handling services such as fuel and repositioning, chauffer-driven limousines, helicopter charter and luxury sky catering, floral arrangements, accommodation and conference facilities.
For crew, there is a designated rest area, showers, transport ... and even a golf course.
