Flight International online news 11:30GMT: Nine-month figure from German flag-carrier Lufthansa show that the airline has achieved a 4.7% rise in passenger traffic and a 1.5-point increase in cabin load factor.
Lufthansa says that the load factor for the January-September period reached 75.8%, its highest-ever nine-month figure. During this interval the carrier transported 38.8 million passengers.
Its freight traffic increased by 2.4% but this could not match the 2.9% hike in capacity, leading to a drop in cargo load factor to 64%.
