Lufthansa pilots have suspended a strike and returned to negotiations with the airline.
However, the carrier will still have to cancel some flights today until 25 February as a result of the strike, which started yesterday and ended at midnight in Germany, says a Lufthansa spokesman.
More than 800 flights were cancelled yesterday, after 400 pilots went on strike. On an average day, Lufthansa has about 800 pilots working, says the spokesman.
German pilots union Vereinigung Cockpit went on strike citing concerns over jobs. Its members reportedly make up the vast majority of Lufthansa's 4,500 cockpit crew.
Lufthansa expects to operate more than 1,000 flights today, out of the 1,800 it usually operates daily, says the spokesman.
"But from tomorrow, more flights will be reinstated," he adds. All scheduled flights will resume on 26 February.
"We expect no major problems, and have re-booked most of the affected passengers on other flights," says the spokesman.
