Israel Aircraft Industries' Malat Division is using Paris to show its latest unmanned air vehicle (UAV), the Bird-Eye 400 mini-UAV.
The Bird-Eye 400, which Malat says is easily assembled and flight-ready in minutes, is packed into two carriers and can be operated by two soldiers.
Digital map referencing is used to plan missions and the operator can then follow the mission on a computer monitor. Bird-Eye 400 is electrically powered, is quiet and can fly for 80min.
It typically operates at 500-1,000ft (150-300m) above ground level, with a range of 15km (8nm). Its wingspan is 2m and length is 0.8m. Take-off weight is 4.1kg (9lb).
Malat's family of micro and mini UAVs is designed for tactical reconnaissance. All of its UAVs use digital map referencing and are fully automated with inflight way point control.
Malat said its UAVs are operating in 15 countries with over 20 customers and have more than 250,000 flight hours.
