Raytheon is maintaining its position in the super-midsize business jet market at Asian Aerospace 2000 with a sale announcement.

Shipbuilding and hotel magnate Dato' Amin Shah bin Omar Shah, chairman of Malaysian industrial giant Business Focus has placed his faith in Raytheon jets for the fifth time with an order here at the show.

Contract

Dato' Amin Shah has signed a contract for a new Hawker Horizon to add to the Hawker 800XP he already owns, according to Raytheon.

The Hawker Horizon is Raytheon's super-midsize business aircraft. With a maximum range of 3,400nm (6,300km) and a maximum cruise speed of .84 Mach, it offers intercontinental access while keeping operation costs down.

Malibu Meridian on schedule for July

The New Piper Malibu Meridian is on schedule for certification in June with first deliveries slated for July.

All four prototypes are currently flying to test various aspects of performance -including Meridian N4033MM which earlier in the year was forced to make an emergency, gear-up landing in Florida.

Damage to the aircraft was minimal and, as the company is quick to point out, incidents such as this are not uncommon in full certification test programmes.

Orders are strong for the Meridian with 140 confirmed guaranteeing production into the second quarter of 2002. During 2000, 35 will be delivered Customers are in Denmark, Thailand, South Africa, Argentina as well as the US.
