General Electric and Rolls-Royce are expected to present best and final offers to Boeing around 15 April to power the proposed 747 Advanced. Both engine makers are offering bleed-capable, clipped fan derivatives of the Airbus A350 engines which are themselves based on the new generation GEnx and Trent 1000 engines in development for the 787. The sole-source winner is due to be announced by the end of April, with full offer ability being made to the market around June.
