ORDER Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has delayed the selection of Boeing 737-400 and Fokker 50 replacements until at least October as it awaits the appointment of a new managing director. Industry sources say MAS will decide on new narrowbody and regional aircraft no earlier than October. MAS has been negotiating with Airbus and Boeing over a potential 40-aircraft A320 or 737-700/800 order since releasing a request for proposals in February. At the same time it issued ATR, Bombardier and Embraer with a tender seeking up to 10 regional jets or turboprops. MAS managing director Ahmad Fuaad Dahlan resigned after the carrier reported a second quarter loss of 281 million ringgit ($71 million).
