Operators of 45 US-registered Boeing MD-11s have been ordered by the US Federal Aviation Administration to inspect wiring in the cargo compartment after one operator found burned insulation and worn wiring. The air carriers are required to verify the installation of a wire harness support bracket and clamp in the lower centre cargo compartment. Missing brackets and clamps could cause a wire bundle to rub against the fuselage.
