EADS Casa is to reveal a maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) demonstrator based on its C295 transport at this week's IDEX defence show in Abu Dhabi.
The demonstrator is the latest MPA based on EADS transports, with the C212 and CN235M having been sold in the role.
EADS is offering the C295MPA in Abu Dhabi as part of a sales campaign to the United Arab Emirates, which has a maritime patrol programme known as Shaheen I.
The C295MPA will be equipped with a mission system based on EADS Casa's Fully Integrated Tactical System (FITS), selected by the Spanish air force for the upgrade of its Lockheed Martin P-3 Orion fleet (Flight International, 23-29 January). FITS includes radar, an electronic warfare system, identification friend-or-foe interrogator, an acoustic process, Link 11 datalink, V/UHF and HF radios as well as inertial and satellite navigation systems.
EADS says it will deliver the first FITS-equipped P-3 to the Spanish air force in 2003.
