Pratt & Whitney Canada has delivered the first PW615F engine for Cessna’s Citation Mustang light jet two months after clinching Transport Canada type certification for the dual-channel full-authority digital electronic control-equipped, 1,350lb thrust (6kN) engine. The engine will be installed on the third Mustang at Cessna’s Independence, Kansas facility. P&WC is ramping up production to deliver around 500 PW600-family series engines this year, it says, and 1,200 a year within four years. Certification of the PW610 for the Eclipse Aviation Eclipse 500 very light jet (VLJ) is earmarked within weeks, while the PW617F powering the Embraer Phenom 100 VLJ is set for certification in late 2007.
