A re-engining programme for as many as 42 converted Boeing 707s might be available to either CFM International or BMW Rolls-Royce if NATO goes ahead with a purchase of Northrop Grumman E-8C JSTARS aircraft.
Northrop Grumman, which is offering its JSTARS (Joint Surveillance Target Attack Radar System) to NATO, says there is a re-engining option attached to its offer. Current plans include re-engineering all 21 US JSTARS aircraft.
