Part privatisation of UK National Air Traffic Services will be implemented on 31 March, says transport minister Lord Macdonald. Shares equal to 46% of the new company will be transferred to the winning group on that date. Three consortia remain in the running: the Airline Group, Nimbus and Novares.

Figures just released show that, last year for the first time, NATS handled more than 2 million flights in its airspace. This is a 5% increase on traffic in 1999.
