GKN Aerospace (Booth 2859) has developed an all-composite, one-piece acoustic liner for aero-engine intakes that is demonstrating a 3-4dB reduction in noise levels. It is expected to enter full production in the next two years. The new design combines one piece “zero-splice construction” with a cell-aligned double layer honeycomb core.
The elimination of the joints and the use of the honeycomb material makes the liner able to absorb noise across a wide frequency range and offers a significant weight reduction.
