Southwest Airlines will begin nonstop service on four US routes from 6 November.
The Dallas-based carrier will begin daily flights between Baltimore/Washington and San Jose, and between Kansas City (Missouri) and San Antonio. It will also begin double daily service between Washington National and Providence, and between San Jose and Salt Lake City.
Southwest will be the only carrier operating between Baltimore/Washington and San Jose, and between Kansas City and San Antonio, schedules in Innovata show.
It will compete against American Airlines on Washington National-Providence. Southwest already operates nonstop between Baltimore/Washington and Providence. United Airlines operates nonstop between Washington Dulles and Providence.
Southwest will compete against Delta Air Lines and Alaska Airlines on San Jose-Salt Lake City.
Separately, Southwest plans to end daily service between Atlanta and Oklahoma City from its November schedule. Its exit will leave Delta as the only carrier on that route.
Southwest will also withdraw from three seasonal nonstop markets: Chicago Midway-Pensacola, Chicago Midway-Reno and Nashville-Seattle.
