A new Chinese cargo start-up is set to begin operations soon from Shenzhen International Airport.

Shunfeng Airways has finished its preparations and has applied for an air operator's certificate, says the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC).

The carrier is a joint-venture between Chinese express courier company SF Express and Shenzhen Tai Hai Investment Company.

It was set up with a capital of 100 million yuan ($15 million), adds the CAAC.

Shunfeng will operate two Boeing 757-200 Freighters, and is awaiting a third aircraft to be approved, says the CAAC.

The airline has also employed 52 staff, including cabin crew and maintenance personnel, it adds.

Chinese media reports say the carrier will operate 20 weekly flights.
