The 2001 Dubai airshow, to be held from 4-8 November, will feature a major first with a pavilion and conference centre dedicated to Intelligence, Surveillance, Targeting Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR).
A one-day conference entitled Middle East ISTAR - A Growing Regional Requirement, will also take place the day before the show at the Dubai Meridien Hotel.
"The conference is being staged in association with Battlespace Publications," explains Virginia Kern, chair of Fairs and Exhibitions, organisers of the airshow.
Green message
The Society of British Aerospace Companies (SBAC) is backing the conference agenda at Aerospace North America next year, bringing its own green theme to the programme of debate.
SBAC director general David Marshall says: "We have already initiated a UK effort on environment issues for aerospace - 'Air Travel, Greener By Design' - and we plan to bring this theme to the conference."
Other industry support for the event, held under the auspice of Boeing, comes from the Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators, the International Federation of Airworthiness, and the Royal Aeronautical Society.
The international trade show will be held in Seattle in September 2001 and will include a series of associated conferences covering key industry issues, such as aviation safety, airframe and engine repair, and manufacturing technology, among others.
