Dunlop Aerospace Braking Systems (DABS) has completed a major investment in software to enhance its engineering and programme management systems and support the new product introduction process.

The new software creates an advanced, integrated environment for product data management across the whole of Dunlop Aerospace, now part of the Meggitt group (Hall 2B, L13).

It will also provide collaborative and visual conferencing technology linking Dunlop, supplier teams and the customer.

David Bailey, head of Engineering at DABS, says: "As a company, we have always invested in industry-best solutions for CAD, CAM and PDM (product data management).

"We can already complete major phases of the product development process digitally on the screen - a virtual product development environment.

"The business and engineering objective is to achieve product design, engineering and manufacturing sign-off on the screen, before any metal cutting or physical prototyping.

"As we achieve this objective, both Dunlop and its end customer partnerships will benefit from the resultant shorter time to market and reduced PLC costs."
