EADS has launched the Innovation Works, a UK programme to create a virtual research foundation spread across a number of facilities and universities for aeronautical, space and defence technology with a focus on secure communications, complex systems simulation, software engineering and wing design.
In the USA, a sensors technology research centre is to be established at the University of Dayton in Ohio, bringing together the US Air Force Research Laboratory's sensors directorate and a coalition of US universities and companies.
The Institute for the Development and Commercialization of Advanced Sensor Technology will work on sensors and related electronics for military, homeland security and commercial applications ranging from airborne surveillance to health monitoring.
