Several fatalities are being reported from an apparent aircraft crash in western Democratic Republic of Congo, although initial details are sketchy.
Unconfirmed media reports suggest that the carrier is Filair, which uses aircraft such as the Let L-410 turboprop. The aircraft type involved is unconfirmed.
But media reports from Kinshasa, citing police sources, are stating that 19 passengers have been killed in the accident, and that there are two survivors.
Reports say the aircraft came down at around 12:00 while operating to Bandundu in the west of the country. The Democratic Republic of Congo is subject to a blanket blacklisting by the European Commission.
