MOONEY M20R APPROVED
Mooney's M20R Ovation2 GX has received its certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency. The single-engined piston has a cruise speed of 173kt (95km/h), a ceiling of 20,000ft (6,100m) and range of 3,440km (1,860nm). Longer-range fuel tanks can be installed providing a range of 4,440km.
LYCOMING TESTING
Textron company Lycoming Engines will shortly start on-wing ground, taxi and flight testing of its IO-233-LSA product. The IO-233 is to deliver 115hp (85kW), have a 2,400h time between overhaul and can use low octane unleaded fuels. Non-certificated IO-233s will be shipped in the fourth quarter, with shipment of approved engines by April 2010.
