Korean Air has selected Pratt & Whitney's PW4170 Advantage70 engine to power six new Airbus A330s. The deal, valued at about $300 million, includes two spare engines.
P&W flight-tested its new PW4170 aboard an Airbus A330-200 operated by Grupo Marsans carrier Air Comet. The engine maker says the Advantage70, offered both as a new engine and as an upgrade kit for existing engines, increases thrust by 2% to 70,000lb (312kN), reduces fuel consumption by 1% and improves durability.
