Rafael has launched a new tactical reconnaissance pod aimed at the growing market for unmanned aircraft systems.

The Recce-U sensor can be configured as a pod for medium-altitude-class UAS, such as the General Atomics Predator B or the Israeli Aircraft Industries Heron TP. Rafael can also offer the Recce-U in a split configuration for smaller UAS.

Recce-U can capture charged coupled device or infrared images simultaneously, Rafael says. It is also equipped with Ku- and X-band common data links.

The system also includes a ground data link station and a ground exploitation station, Rafael says.

Recce-U is based on the RecceLite tactical reconnaissance pod, which is designed for the manned fighter market, to include Lockheed Martin F-16s.
