Parker Aerospace (hall 5 C220) and China's AVIC have sealed a deal set up two joint-venture companies to support development of systems for the Comac C919 airliner.
In 2010, Parker was selected to supply fly-by-wire flight-control actuation, fuel, inerting and hydraulic systems for the narrowbody.
Now, the US engineering group is set to partner AVIC's Flight Automated Control Research Institute to provide in-country support of the joint development of flight-control actuation systems. The new Xi'an-based outfit will also serve as a customer service repair centre for Parker, AVIC and third-party products.
"Development and support" of the fuel, inerting and hydraulic systems have been assigned to a Nanjing-based joint venture Parker is forming with AVIC's Jincheng arm. "A significant portion" of the assembling, testing and manufacturing of the systems will be carried out in Nanjing, says Parker.
First flight of the C919 is due in 2014. Parker also supplies fuel, hydraulic and flight-control actuation systems for Comac's ARJ21 regional jet, which first flew in 2009.
