Brazilian regional airline Passaredo is to expand its 50-seat Embraer ERJ-145 fleet to 18 aircraft, with seven new examples set for delivery in the first half of 2011.

The move is intended to handle what Passaredo describes as "strong" demand for regional services and, potentially, "a lot of new routes".

The Riberao Preto-based carrier's fleet-renewal plan will see it retire its last 30-seat EMB-120 turboprop within two months, leaving it with 11 ERJ-145s.

This year Passaredo introduced some longer routes to Brazil's north-east, and bolstered capacity in its historic network of flights to regional destinations around Riberao Preto with the larger ERJ-145s.
