Pakistan International Airlines and Canada's WestJet have both selected satellite communications systems from Honeywell/Thales (Stand A712) for their new and existing aircraft.

PIA is to fit the Honeywell /Thales MCS7000 satellite communications system on eight new Boeing 777s.

The system will permit passengers and crew to make telephone calls from anywhere in the world using Inmarsat's Swift64 high-speed data system.

Navigation

Two 777-200ERs have already been delivered, with a third aircraft scheduled for delivery at the end of next month. The remaining B-777LRs and a B-777-300ER will be delivered between 2006 and 2008.

Other Honeywell avionic equipment specified for the aircraft includes communications and navigation radios, weather radar, airborne collision avoidance systems and cockpit voice and data recorders.

Honeywell has also struck a deal with WestJet, the Calgary, Alberta-based low-fare carrier, to supply the Honeywell/Thales MCS 4000 satellite communication systems for its aircraft.
