European Aviation Safety Agency regulators have certified the Engine Alliance GP7200-powered version of the Airbus A380.
The approval comes almost exactly a year after EASA similarly certified the type with Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines.
It follows supplemental tests and route-proving efforts amounting to nearly 300 flight hours to ensure the aircraft complied with noise and emissions requirements.
Engine Alliance’s GP7200 gained EASA approval in April this year. The US FAA is working to validate EASA’s certification of the aircraft for the US market.
