Embraer began flight-testing of the re-engined E-Jet E2 family earlier today, when the first E190-E2 took to the skies from the company’s plant in Sao Jose dos Campos, Brazil.
The maiden flight of the Pratt & Whitney PW1900G-powered E190-E2 prototype on 23 May was a low-key affair. Embraer marked the take-off by simply posting on Twitter "E190-E2 is now Airborne” along with a short video of the take-off (screengrab above).
The E190-E2 is the first of a three-variant family, and the prototype rolled out on 25 February. E190-E2 deliveries are due to begin in 2018. The larger E195-E2 will follow a year later and the E175-E2 in 2019.
