Boeing's Phantom Eye, a hydrogen-powered testbed, has made its second flight. The test was the first after a hard landing during its June 2012 maiden flight, which destroyed parts of its landing gear.
The unmanned testbed was developed by Boeing's advanced Phantom Works division to demonstrate an aircraft that could stay airborne for up to four days at a time with payloads up to 204kg (450lb).
Phantom Eye was airborne just for over 1h, and reached a maximum altitude of 8,000ft (2,440m), ending in what Boeing calls a "picture-perfect landing".
