Boeing rolled out the first 787-9 aircraft bearing the new Boeing Commercial Airplanes livery on 27 July.
The new livery retains many of the features found on 787-8s, adding a prominent number to the tail to help distinguish models within the same product family, says Boeing. The refreshed look began with the 747-8s and is also shown on pictures of the 737 Max.

With the 787-9's fuselage stretched by 6m (20ft), the aircraft will be able to carry 40 more passengers and offer an additional 300nm (555km) in range compared to similar sized aircraft with 20% reduction in fuel use and emissions. It will also leverage a number of features from the 787-8s, such as dimmable windows, higher humidity and lower cabin altitude.
Boeing says it is on track to roll out the 787-9 in late summer, as it is currently in final production. Launch customer Air New Zealand is set to receive the first aircraft in the middle of 2014.
