Qatar Airways is to almost double the capacity of its new on-demand business charter arm with the introduction of two new Bombardier Challenger 850s.
The airline launched its Qatar Executive division earlier this year operating two new 11-seat Challenger 605s and a single Challenger 300 eight-seater that it already had in its fleet. The arm is targeting the region's growing corporate market, operating to anywhere within around 8h flying time from its Doha base.
Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker says that two new 12-seat Challenger 850s have been ordered for delivery in December and January, and that the new division's performance is "meeting our expectations" so far. "We are new in this business so we cannot expect [too much] from day one," he adds.
