Security solutions organisation QinetiQ (Hall 1, Stand A19) has unveiled a new generation of security screening.
The QinetiQ Imager uses millimetre wave technology which 'sees' through clothing.
It could prove a significant development in the fight against terrorism, says Duncan Valentine, managing director of the company's transport sector.
"Millimetre wave technology has the potential to become to people screening what X-ray is now to baggage screening."
Designed to detect hidden metallic and non-metallic weapons, the system produces moving images of people, allowing operators to accurately locate hidden items.
QinetiQ's first millimetre wave product, called Borderwatch, is already used by the UK Immigration Service and Eurotunnel and has had success in detecting people illegally entering Britain in the back of lorries.
