Tupolev Tu-204 leasing specialist Sirocco Aerospace has agreed with the Kazan Aircraft Production factory (KAPO) to install Rolls-Royce RB211-535E4 engines on the higher-weight, extended-range Tu-214 built in Kazan.
Until now, Aviastar has been the only producer of the R-R-powered version of the Tu-204, designated the -120, at its Ulynovosk plant, under an exclusive agreement with Sirocco. KAPO should complete the first RB211-powered Tu-214 within a year.
KAPO delivered the first Aviadvigatel PS-90-powered Tu-214 in May to Russian airline Dalavia.
