Avro Vulcan XH558 performed a flying display at the Royal International Air Tattoo for the first time since 1991 on 18 July, providing the clear highlight for many visitors who attended the sold-out first day of the weekend event.

XH558 took off from the show at Royal Air Force base Fairford in Gloucestershire to perform a flyby at an event in Cosford, before returning to perform a full display at RIAT.

The Vulcan to the Sky Trust responsible for operating the restored Cold War bomber reported no technical issues as a result of the flight, and the aircraft went on to also perform a full display on 19 July. This culminated with XH558 leading a US Air Force Boeing B-52 bomber on a taxi run down the Fairford runway.

The Vulcan is due to move to nearby RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire on Monday, with its next planned public presentations to be at the Lowestoft air show in Suffolk on 23 and 24 July.
