An Embraer 110 Bandeirante turboprop aircraft operated by Brazil's Rico Linhas Aereas yesterday suffered a runway overrun at Coari airport, about 300 km southwest of the airline's Manaus base.
According to a local source, one person was taken to a local hospital after the aircraft arriving from Manaus overran the runway. The remaining 13 crew and passengers were uninjured.
Rico Linhas Aereas is a Manaus based airline which operates a network across the operationally challenging Amazon region, extending from the Brazilian and Colombian border to the Atlantic Ocean.
Since its 1996 creation the airline has suffered two fatal accidents, losing an Embraer 120 at Rio Branco in 2002 and another aircraft of the same type in Manaus two years later.
