Qantas Airways has selected the Rockwell Collins Flight Dynamics HGS-4000 Head-Up Guidance System (HGS) for its fleet of Boeing 737 aircraft. The retrofit of the 737-800s will take place in Australia with completion by the end of 2002.

The HGS will give Qantas improved operational performance in all weather conditions, including reduced approach minima at many of the Type 1 airports in its network.

The HGS provides critical flight information in the pilot's forward field of view with flight path and acceleration symbols overlay the real-life scene.

It also provides a platform for future Rockwell Collins technologies, such as enhanced vision and surface guidance (Hall 4, G10).

The HGS technology is certified for both civil and military aircraft and has accumulated more than 9 million flight hours.
