Professor Roger Green BSc, FRAeS, AFBPsS, died on 25 September, 1996, following a long illness, aged 48. As head of the UK Defence Research Agency's Centre for Human Sciences, he had been a world leader in bringing aircrew human-factors (HF) awareness to the civil and military front-line, including making HF studies a part of UK commercial pilots' licence requirements. Green's defence work ranged from briefing service pilots on HF to human-engineering design for defence equipment.
