Rolls-Royce is the first company to use the latest technology from Exostar to help it develop its new Trent 900 engine.

This founding member of the e-business service provider is using ForumPass 2.0 – launched by Exostar at the show – to collaborate internally and with outside suppliers and partners in a secure online environment.

The latest version of ForumPass builds on systems designed for the other founders BAE, Systems, Boeing, Lockheed Martin and Raytheon. It gives enhanced internet security and more functionality and is more user-friendly, says e-collaboration programme manager Greg Maxwell. Previously these companies shared data via e-mail, CD transfer, fax or on an ad hoc basis. Rolls-Royce plans to involve around 30 suppliers in total within its ForumPass collaboration projects on the Trent 900.
