American Airlines is commencing two daily non-stop services between Oakland and New York Kennedy on 2 March, in competition with JetBlue. Aeromexico plans to begin daily Boeing MD-80 service from Mexico City to El Paso, Texas, on 8 July. Swiss charter airline Edelweiss Air will begin seasonal Saturday service between Zurich and Orlando Sanford, Florida, on 4 May, using an Airbus A330-200. British Airways franchise carrier British Mediterranean Airways will initiate thrice-weekly services between London Heathrow and Tehran on 14 March, using a newly delivered Airbus A321. Lufthansa will begin daily service between Munich and New York Kennedy on 1 March as part of an effort to expand its second German hub. Other new services to be added for the summer schedules include daily flights to San Francisco, five weekly to Shanghai and six weekly to Tokyo. At the same time six weekly flights to Johannesburg and three to Singapore are being terminated. Hawaiian Airlines is to restart daily non-stop services in June from Maui to Los Angeles and introduce daily non-stop flights to San Francisco, using Boeing 767s. A fourth daily seasonal flight from Los Angeles to Honolulu will be operated between 15 June and 2 September. UK low-fare airline Go will begin flights to six destinations from its new East Midlands Airport hub on 14 March: Alicante, Belfast, Faro, Glasgow, Malaga and Prague. Delta Air Lines is to introduce a four-times weekly Boeing 767-300ER service between Atlanta and Milan Malpensa on 1 April. It will add a second daily 777 flight between New York Kennedy and Paris on 15 March. SkyTeam alliance partner Alitalia will offer codeshare services on the Milan flights while Air France will offer the same on Kennedy-Paris flights. American Airlines is to introduce a daily non-stop service between JFK and Tokyo on 19 April. Cargolux has started a once-weekly cargo flight from Luxembourg to Penang, Malaysia, and aims to double frequencies in the near future.
