* From 31March, KLM uk will withdraw all operations from Guernsey in the Channel Islands, including services to Southampton, London Stansted and Amsterdam.

* British Airways' low-cost division Go is to expanding its services to south-west Europe, with new services from London Stansted to Faro and Malaga from the end of March, Bilbao from May and Madrid from July.

* SAS Cargo has moved its Gothenburg-Macau service to Hong Kong (via Sharjah) and replaced the Atlas Air Boeing 747-200F currently leased for the route, with a Boeing MD-11F leased from Star partner Lufthansa.

* Spanair has launched direct services from Madrid to Alicante, Vigo and Oviedo.

* Air France and Middle East Airlines are to co-operate and codeshare on services to a series of points beyond the Paris-Beirut route.

* Japan and South Korea plan to boost the number of air links between them and push for greater liberalisation of air services in the run up to the 2002 World Cup football tournament, to be jointly hosted by the two nations. According to the Korean transport ministry's international air transport division, an agreement was reached on the opening of a new passenger air route between Seoul and Fukushima, with each country permitted to operate up to four units - each equivalent to one Boeing 737 service - per week. A new cargo service has also been agreed, to operate between Seoul and Sendai, as well as an increase in capacity from Seoul to Osaka, from 41.3 to 50.8 units.

* Swissair is ceasing its two weekly services between Hong Kong and Zurich via Bombay from 24 March because of increasing overhead costs.

* UK-based Brymon Airways, is launching four new routes. From May, it will operate between Newcastle and Belfast International coupled to a new daily service between Newcastle and Copenhagen, while a new Aberdeen-Oslo service will begin on 28 March.
