Vibration analysis is the key to a new system from RSL Electronics that can help aircraft operators to spot incipient engine problems and solve them before they lead to failure.

The Total Health and Usage Management System (T-HUMS) can conduct a comprehensive check of engine health and identify serious problems at least six to ten hours before they lead to a failure and locate minor deficiencies before they become permanent.

With a claimed 90% detection rate and few false alarms, T-HUMS is designed to support condition-based maintenance without the added costs of data processing.
