Russian carrier Azur Air has given stronger signals that it is looking to acquire Boeing 777s for its operations.
The airline has newly increased its fleet to include a sixth 737-800, a 189-seat jet which it put into service on 25 April on the Moscow-Heraklion route.
But it has recently been advertising for captains and first officers, not just for Boeing 737s, 757s and 767s – which it already operates – but also for the 777.
Azur Air operates 21 aircraft but says it is aiming to expand the fleet further this year, pointing to introduction of "other types" including the 777, as well as additional 767s.
It has not indicated a source for the aircraft.
Russian flag-carrier Aeroflot, its associate operator Rossiya, and Nordwind all operate 777s. VIM-Avia had also introduced the twinjet type before the carrier's collapse last year.
