Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) has completed a crucial part of its restructuring plans by signing a deal with unions representing pilots, cabin crew and other employees. The unions agreed to cost-cutting measures of SKr1.5 billion ($200 million) a year, to take full effect next year, in exchange for guarantees of job security. SAS recently warned that unless it could cut SKr14 billion in annual costs by last week's extraordinary general meeting it could be forced to cut jobs and routes (Flight International, 16-22 March).
