New Tanzanian airline SAX-Tanzania is to start operations in the second half of this year.
The carrier – which is a subsidiary of Kenya’s Fly-SAX – says that, pending regulatory approval, it intends to start operating scheduled and charter flights to Kilimanjaro, Mwanza, Mwtara and Zanzibar with a fleet of three 50-seat Bombardier CRJ200s.
“We are launching a new airline to meet the ever-increasing demand for low-cost, efficient and safe air travel within Tanzania from the country’s own citizens as well as international tourists visiting the country,” says Don Smith, chief executive and founder of Fly-SAX and Fly540 Kenya.
SAX-Tanzania has appointed Brown Francis, previously general manager of Fly540, as its chief executive.
