Contractors and suppliers for the Farnborough airshow will no longer have to stay in student halls or cheap hotels if plans for a new crew hotel get the go-ahead.

The Farnborough crew hotel is a joint initiative of Dutch contractors De Boer and the Society of British Aerospace Companies (SBAC). Conveniently located, the temporary hotel will have all the basic facilities and comfortable rooms to accommodate crew members, suppliers and VIPs at the show in 2006.

Interest

Mark Slack, site supervisor for De Boer, says: "Already a lot of people have shown an interest, including my own crew and the TNT crew of 70 people that is based here."

At the moment, Slack's De Boer crew is staying at old student buildings just outside the Farnborough site.

"It is difficult these days to find a decent place at a reasonable price," he says. "A crew hotel would offer us a perfect setting to relax after a hard day's work."
