China's Shanghai Airlines Cargo International plans to start a Xiamen-Osaka freight service from January 2010.
The service will be operated four times a week, says the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), which has to approve the airline's application.
Shanghai will operate a Boeing 757 freighter or MD-11 freighter on the route, says CAAC.
