A low-cost light jet available for under $1 million has been produced by Sierra Industries from Texas… but the company is ruing the fact it was too late to book a slot at the static park
Sierra has launched its Value Light Jet (VLJ) program, which it says will provide a real alternative for new pilots who want to fly now in a safe, proven, high-performance light business jet.
The jet is a snip at $845,000 and delivers on years of promises by very light jet manufacturers to produce personal business jets for under $1 million.
The aircraft is based on the Cessna Citation 500 with GPS, terrain awareness and warning system, new paint schemes and a new six-passenger interior. Customers have a range of options to choose from including reduced vertical separation minima, electronic flight instrument system and digital autopilots.
A package of enhancements, including a warranty, financing packages, insurance programs, flight training and a buy-back option, are also available to the customer.
Sierra chief executive Mark Huffstutler says: “Our intent is to provide the convenience of one-stop shopping when it comes to the details of acquiring a VLJ. We have set our program apart from other aircraft on the market by bundling added features with each Sierra VLJ.”
Sales and marketing vice-president Tom Canavera says: “We have addressed every issue that faces the prospective purchaser and we think we can answer all the immediate needs of someone wanting to enter the light jet market and we can do so with a reliable, safe, proven aircraft that is not only an outstanding value but is available now.”
For more than 25 years, Sierra has been specializing in aircraft modifications and maintenance for Cessna Citation model series business jets.
