Jet Aviation Singapore is tripling the size of its hangar facility at Singapore's Seletar Aerospace Park to cater to the growing regional demand for larger business jets.
The expanded hangar, targeted to be operational by this April, will triple its hangar space from 2,500m2 to 7,500m2. The expansion also includes the addition of shops and offices, as well as apron space.
The expanded hangar, together with the existing one, will have the capability to house seven of the larger business jets, such as the Gulfstream G650 or Bombardier Global Express 7000, concurrently. The facility will also be able to accomodate the Boeing Business Jet.
The new 24m high hangar, construction of which started in May 2013, has direct access to the tarmac at Seletar airport.
The expansion project is expected to cost Jet Aviation some $25 million.
"Given growing regional demand and a strong market preference for larger, long-range business jets, our expanded facility will enable us to better serve the needs of our business aviation customers," says its vice president and general manager Gary Dolski.
Jet Aviation has grown its employee headcount from 59 in 2010 to 123 in 2013. It expects to increase its staff strength by another 10% this year. The firm has also partnered with the Air Transport Training College to jointly offer a licensed aircraft engineer training programme for business aviation.
