Following an epic ferry flight from Cessna's new factory at Independence in Kansas, USA, the C-172 Skyhawk on display at Dubai '97 has been sold to Sharjah's Sheikh Faisal bin Khalid Al Qassimi.

A microlight pilot and aviation enthusiast, Sheikh Faisal intends to obtain his fixed-wing PPL on the aircraft which is the first of its type in the UAE.

The 65-hour ferry flight went via Gander (Newfoundland) with subsequent landings at the Azores, Portugal, Palma (Majorca), Heraklion (Crete) and Luxor (Egypt), with the final leg being across the desert to Dubai.
